GUEST BLOGGING FALL HIGH POINT MARKET
Bonjour mes amis et collaborateurs! I have been keeping something very exciting from you for weeks, and can finally share: I have been selected to guest blog for next month’s High Point Fall Market! It is such an honor to have been selected by High Point Market Authority and Esteem Media /Design Influencers Conference to join the Fall 2019 Design Bloggers Tour! This will mark my first trip to High Point, and I am so excited for the inspiration and new partnerships this essential North American market will initiate.
The Design Bloggers Tour brings 10 interior design bloggers and 12 sponsors leading High Point showrooms together as part of a special High Point market presentation. With each blogger and sponsor representing a distinctive voice in the industry, the tour creates a unique space for us to share fresh perspectives and find rousing, new inspiration. During and after Market, follow the tour on social media by following the #designbloggerstour hashtag.
The Team
I am very passionate about the power of networking, so I am excited to have the opportunity to do so with nine fabulous design bloggers throughout the tour. Be sure to follow their blogs and social media accounts for more inspiration and highlights from HPMKT throughout the fall.
The Sponsors
Our host sponsors are a wide variety of suppliers covering every major interior design product category. In the category of specialty fabrics and upholstery are Crypton, pioneers of stain and liquid resistant fabrics, and Smith Hönig, who also produce a broad variety of home decor items ranging from tassels to wallpaper. Furniture makers include Four Hands, Dorel, Hooker Furniture, Lloyd Flanders and Norwalk, each representing different aspects of interior style ranging from eclectic, international and bohemian to classic, traditional and all-American. The lighting category is represented by Vermont locals, Hubbardton Forge, and Hudson Valley Lighting, and Jaipur Living brings in the base layer: rugs.
These vendors have significant brand recognition in the interior design industry, which means they have the ability to make a large impact on the ecology of our planet. So of course the angle that interests me most is their commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly production, and I am happy to note than many of these sponsors already have green practices in place. The conversation of sustainability continues to amplify in our industry, and I expect that it will be a focal point of the tour.
WHAT
The two-day tour consists of showroom appointments with each of the sponsors, as well as the InterHall and Salon sections of the show. I will be on the hunt for fresh eco-friendly and sustainable sources, burgeoning design trends, and new ways to achieve wellbeing through traditional design philosophies. And of course, I will bring all of my findings to you right here on Beyond Aesthetics beginning next month.
WHEN
The tour takes place on Sunday, October 20 and Monday, October 21, as part of the full market that runs from October 19-23.
I am so grateful to High Point Market for including me in this delightful collaboration! I eagerly anticipate sharing the sustainable side of HPMKT with you all next month. In the meantime, if you have any High Point recommendations — must-visit showrooms, uniquely High Point restaurants or not to be missed industry soirees — please do share in the comments below!
